GOODGrief
First came the obvious grief: the person, the relationship, the future built around them, and the version of yourself who only existed inside that future.
I thought a goodbye ended when you stopped missing someone. I was wrong.
Alt-R&B, electronic soul and cinematic pop built for the moment feeling everything becomes movement.
K A T R I N A is a St. Petersburg, Florida-based vocalist, songwriter and producer whose work lives between alt-R&B, electronic soul, dance-pop and cinematic storytelling. With more than 15 years of live performance behind her, she entered her original recording era in 2025 with a concept-first approach: build the world, tell the emotional truth, then make it move.
Her debut concept EP GOODGrief, released February 6, 2026, introduced The Anatomy of Goodbyes, a larger narrative body of work examining not only who we lose, but the identities, futures, memories and patterns that remain after the relationship ends. The project pairs velvet vocals, groove-driven production and emotionally precise writing with visuals designed to feel like scenes rather than content.
Now, as the story moves from grief toward self-perception, desire and awareness, the artistry is shifting too. A new wave is coming as Adessa Blu: a more cinematic, sensual and self-aware evolution of the project, built around emotional depth, controlled disruption and the tension between what we want and what we finally notice.
The story started with losing someone. It kept going when the person was gone.
First came the obvious grief: the person, the relationship, the future built around them, and the version of yourself who only existed inside that future.
The second act asks a different question: not “how do I get over you?” but “who am I now?” Attention returns to the self. New attraction, old defenses, hope beside caution. Somewhere between the apps and the almosts, the muse stops being the person who left. It becomes you.
What comes next turns the lens inward. Not toward the person who left, but toward the patterns that can follow us into the next room. The next chapter stays intentionally beneath the surface for now.
Five stages of grief applied to modern heartbreak, followed by one final shift in perspective.
Denial. Anger. Bargaining. Depression. Acceptance. GOODGrief moves through the stages as a front-to-back emotional narrative. The twist arrives at the end: “Different Life (Afterglow)” revisits the lyrics of the depression-stage song with a new melody and production.
The events did not change. The memory did not change. The person carrying it did. Because grief does not disappear when you accept it. You carry it differently.
The next era goes deeper into desire, perception and the patterns beneath the surface. Reflective. Fluid. Internal. The name is catching up to the music.
The sonic world is built to move, but the story is meant to reveal itself in layers.
International coverage has centered on the project’s emotional precision, cinematic presentation and concept-driven structure.

K A T R I N A is redefining the face of alt R&B with cinematic storytelling, hypnotic grooves, and velvet vocals that blur the lines between dance, soul, and electronic pop. Fusing moody R&B emotion with late night energy, her sound is vibey, sexy, smooth, and cinematic as she turns heartbreak into healing and vulnerability into power.
The Asheville based vocalist, songwriter, and producer writes all her own lyrics and melodies and co produces every instrumental and final mix, describing her music as therapy on the dance floor. She blends emotional depth with rhythm driven production and a cinematic sense of atmosphere. Her debut single “All I Want(ED)” introduced her signature style, soulful yet danceable, earning more than 9,000 organic streams in its first six weeks through grassroots promotion and tireless independent effort. The track inspired two official remixes by Mannyfesto and Goforth, expanding her sound across R&B and electronic spaces while showcasing her versatility as both a writer and performer.
Her recent single “Different Life” (October 31) leads into her debut GOODGrief EP (February 6, 2026), the first chapter of her conceptual trilogy The Anatomy of Goodbyes. The second single “Betchuthinkyourespecial” will arrive November 28, 2025, with a same day music video directed by Jonathan Bain of Free Lords.
